Using AI as Your SEO Assistant
LinkedIn Learning · Marketplace
Our verdict
Include it for completeness and warn readers off it. The course is a competent 2023 artefact about using ChatGPT to speed up ordinary SEO work, and it still contains a lesson on retired ChatGPT plugins. It does not address AI Overviews, GEO, AEO or citation mechanics, which is the entire subject now. LinkedIn Learning publishes no ratings or enrolment data and blocks inspection of its pages, so buyers cannot assess quality before subscribing. Free if you already pay for Premium, and not worth subscribing for.

No per-course purchase exists. Access requires a LinkedIn Learning or LinkedIn Premium subscription. Third-party sources put LinkedIn Learning at USD 29.99 per month or USD 239.88 per year with a 30-day free trial, and note it is bundled into LinkedIn Premium Career at USD 39.99 per month. LinkedIn's own pricing page blocks automated retrieval, so these figures are unverified against the source.

This is LinkedIn Learning's flagship AI SEO course and the clearest example in this research of a listing that must be flagged rather than recommended. It was published on 14 July 2023 and last modified 23 May 2025. The premise is using generative AI as a productivity assistant for existing SEO work, with prompts for keyword discovery, content ideation and copy that ranks better. That framing belongs to the 2023 era. The lesson list visible in search results includes a segment on using plugins with ChatGPT, a feature OpenAI retired, which is direct evidence of stale material. More importantly the course predates the entire generative engine optimization problem. It teaches AI as a tool for doing SEO, not how to become visible inside AI answers. LinkedIn Learning also blocks automated inspection of its course pages, so duration and lesson count could not be verified.

Strengths and weaknesses
What it does well
- Included at no extra cost for anyone already paying for LinkedIn Premium
- Certificate posts directly to a LinkedIn profile, which has mild recruiter visibility
- Prompt-led format is approachable for non-technical marketers
- No upsells, countdown timers or rank-number-one claims
Where it falls short
- Published July 2023 and only lightly touched in May 2025, so it is substantially obsolete
- Contains a lesson on ChatGPT plugins, a feature OpenAI has retired
- Predates and does not cover GEO, AEO, AI Overviews or LLM citation mechanics
- Teaches AI as an SEO assistant, which is the opposite of what AI SEO now means
- No rating, review count or enrolment figure is published, so quality cannot be gauged
- Access ends when the subscription ends
How it scores, and why
Depth 3 for a short prompt-led overview. Currency 1 because a 2023 publication with a stale ChatGPT plugins lesson and no GEO coverage is close to worthless in 2026. Authority 3 because only authorship was verified. Practical 5 because the prompts themselves still work for routine tasks. Value 4 because it is free inside an existing subscription but does not justify one. Support 2 because LinkedIn Learning has no community or instructor Q&A.
Who teaches it
Dave Birss. LinkedIn Learning instructor credited as the author of this course. No further biographical detail was verified during this research because LinkedIn Learning blocks automated page inspection.
Not verified. Only his authorship of this course was confirmed, via a university career-services mirror of the LinkedIn Learning catalogue. Any claim about his wider standing should be checked before publication.
