AI Brand Visibility SMX Master Class

SMX / Search Engine Land (Third Door Media) · Publisher or event

Our verdict

A rare and useful angle. Most GEO training sells tactics, and Bowman instead addresses why those tactics stall inside a real company. For an enterprise SEO lead who keeps losing arguments with product and support, 299 dollars for 4.5 live hours plus a year of replay is defensible. Do not expect technical depth, tool walkthroughs or a credential that means anything. Check the price before buying, since SMX's own pages disagree.

What this course actually is

This is a one-day live online workshop run by SMX, the training arm of Search Engine Land, scheduled for 5 October 2026 from 11:00 to 15:30 Eastern. Jessica Bowman teaches it. Its angle is deliberately different from most GEO training. Rather than tactics, it addresses how AI systems evaluate and recommend brands, why many companies' current approaches are misaligned, and the cross-functional dependencies that sit outside marketing in product, customer support, PR and operations. A large part of the value is frameworks for explaining AI visibility requirements to leadership and to teams that do not report to SEO. Attendees submit one or two of their own products or services as case examples and complete three preparation readings. On-demand replay is included for those who cannot attend live, and SMX states that live attendance comes with 365 days of replay access plus a certificate of completion and a digital badge.

Who it suits

Worth your money if

In-house leaders who already know the tactics and need to mobilise product, support and PR teams behind AI visibility.

Look elsewhere if

Practitioners wanting hands-on technical GEO work, tool training or a recognised qualification.

Aimed at: In-house SEOs, Content marketers & writers. Prerequisites: Submit one or two company products or services as case examples and complete three preparation readings

Strengths and weaknesses

What it does well

  • Genuinely live with real interaction, not a recorded course sold as a workshop
  • Tackles the organisational problem that tactics-first GEO courses ignore
  • Attendee case examples make it concrete
  • Run by an established search publisher with a reputation to protect
  • 365 days of replay included

Where it falls short

  • Only 4.5 hours, so coverage is necessarily shallow on technique
  • Light on hands-on tooling, measurement and technical implementation
  • Certificate is a completion badge with no accreditation or hiring value
  • Pricing is inconsistent between SMX pages, which is sloppy
  • Aimed at enterprise roles, so of limited use to freelancers and small teams

How it scores, and why

Value for money6
Support & community5
Weighted total 6.8 / 10. Weights: currency 24, curriculum 22, practical application 20, instructor authority 16, value 12, support 6. Ranks 13 of 33 on rubric score.

Depth is limited by a 4.5-hour format and a narrow organisational focus. Currency is high because it is taught live in October 2026 and refreshed per run. Bowman has real enterprise credibility and publisher endorsement but is less publicly prominent than the field's leading names. Practical application is good given attendee case examples and preparation work. Value for money is moderate because 299 dollars buys under five hours. Support is mid because live Q and A exists but there is no ongoing community.
